Infobip Shift  Gamified Event Marketing Campaign

Infobip set out to launch a gamified event marketing campaign at Shift Conference, one of Europe’s largest developer events. The goal was to showcase their WhatsApp chatbot technology while creating an interactive experience that would capture attention, drive participation and build deeper attendee engagement.

Our Approach

We built a gamified, geolocation-based AR hunt powered by a WhatsApp chatbot, turning the event into an interactive experience. Attendees entered through a conversational chatbot flow, seamlessly transitioning into gameplay.

Participants explored the venue to collect virtual assets, encouraging movement across the event space and increasing exposure to key areas and sponsor touchpoints. This gamified mechanic drove repeat interaction, while rewards incentivised participation and reinforced attendee engagement.

By combining chatbots, gamification and geolocation, the experience transformed a large-scale conference into a connected, interactive journey while capturing valuable first-party data. 

How It Worked

The experience was delivered through a mobile-first journey, starting in WhatsApp and transitioning into a web-based AR experience, with no app download required. This allowed for seamless distribution across event communication channels.

Attendees were automatically registered via the chatbot and guided into a geofenced AR hunt within the venue. Players collected virtual tokens, tracked in a digital wallet, and unlocked rewards as they progressed.

By combining conversational entry, gamification and real-world exploration, the campaign guided attendees through the event while capturing engagement data and creating a memorable, reward-driven experience.
