Augmented reality event engagement: Infobip Shift conference

Infobip’s Shift Conference is one of Europe’s largest developer events, designed to immerse attendees in interactive experiences. But Infobip wanted to go further. The task was clear: create an activation that would spotlight their WhatsApp chatbot technology while delivering augmented reality event engagement that surprised, delighted, and connected with thousands of attendees.

The Approach

We, together with Codified, built the Shift Quest AR Hunt, a gamified, mobile-first experience powered by WhatsApp. Attendees were auto-registered through a frictionless chatbot flow, unlocking access to a geo-fenced AR hunt exclusive to the event.

Key elements included:

  • AR gamification campaign where attendees collected three virtual ducks to complete their flock

  • Geo-location AR marketing ensuring the hunt was limited to the venue

  • Interactive AR brand activation with instant prize opportunities

  • Digital wallet integration to track tokens in real-time

  • Seamless chatbot-to-AR transition, showcasing new customer interaction possibilities

This web-based AR platform required no app downloads, keeping entry simple, fast, and barrier-free.

The Results?

The AR Hunt generated exceptional engagement. Participation soared thanks to gamification, with attendees spending longer in the experience and returning multiple times to complete their flock. Infobip successfully showcased their WhatsApp chatbot as a powerful tool for immersive AR experiences and contextual engagement.
